Community Producers
Programs cablecast on CAN11, ITN22 & ITN23 are produced and sponsored exclusively by local community members. PCM provides training and access to the technology, and independent producers provide the program content. Community media channels are the perfect vehicle to educate, inform and engage the local community through strategic use of video.
Engaging the community through video
A core facet of PCM's mission is to engage a wide range of community perspectives, including those of groups that have historically been misrepresented or under-represented; encouraging understanding and collaboration across barriers such as race, culture, class, ideology, gender, age and sexual orientation. PCM attempts to achieve this mission by creating opportunities for community groups and non-profits to get involved (such as SmartAccess). PCM also encourages immigrants and bi-lingual community members to get involved in the creation of public affairs, educational, informational and entertainment programming to address the needs of ALL community members.
Non-profit, non-commercial
PCM is a non-profit, public benefit organization. PCM channels are non-commercial. PCM equipment is not intended for commercial production, and PCM does not support the production or distribution of for-profit programming. Independent producers found using PCM equipment or channels for income purposes are in violation of PCM policies and may lose the privilege of using PCM equipment, channels and facilities.
Underwriting and sponsorship
PCM allows underwriting and sponsorship of programming for the purpose of offsetting or recouperating expenses incurred during production of a program. Underwriting and sponsorship messages must follow PCM's guidelines as identified in the Operating Policies, Rules & Procedures document, or in the Sponsorship and Commercial Content on Public Access Channels document.
